GREAT Nuclear Energy Summit Bucharest, Romania
3-5 October 2017
Conferences, sector roundtables, one-to-one meetings and networking opportunities

Following the success of Energy Summits in Prague (October 2014) and Warsaw (February 2016), DIT will be organising the GREAT Nuclear Energy Summit in Bucharest, a trade delegation of British companies to Romania. This is your chance to find out more about opportunities in 7 markets across the Central and Eastern European region and Finland and to meet potential business partners. Whether your expertise is in nuclear new build, life extension or decommissioning & waste management programmes, don’t miss your chance to explore the potential that exists in this exciting region.

The Opportunities

CEE represents exciting opportunities for British companies across the nuclear supply chain spectrum. Market opportunities are estimated at over £40 billion in nuclear new build, lifetime extension, and waste management and decommissioning.

Romania, for example, has in operation two CANDU 6 reactors at Cernavoda, and intends to build two similar reactors on the same site, a project worth £5.5 billion. A separate project to extend the life of one of the existing reactors will begin in 2018, which will require a further £1.8 billion.

Elsewhere in the region, Poland envisages 6,000 MWe of nuclear power to come on-line by 2035 and the Paks NPP in Hungary will be expanded with two new reactors being built. In Bulgaria, nearly £400 million in decommissioning work is currently being tendered on reactors 1 to 4 at Kozloduy NPP, including a waste disposal facility.

Delegates will arrive on 3 October 2017 in Bucharest, and have a scene setting briefing over dinner, followed by a full day’s programme on 4 October (presentations and panel discussions with regional key decision makers, half a day of one-to-one meetings and networking reception at the British Ambassador’s Residence). The mission will leave Bucharest on 5 October for a site visit to Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant.
