The award of any subsequent contract arising from such requirements is subject to the Public Contract Regulations 2006. Expressions of Interest are invited from companies interested in bidding for the Disposal of Low Level Radioactive Waste, mainly dials, switches and indicators, held by The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (BBMF) based at RAF Coningsby. These items have markings in Radium (Ra226) and range in activity from 0.01MBq to 1.25MBq. There are approximately 300 items to be disposed of. Disposal is to be carried out in accordance with all current relevant legislation including the Radioactive Substances Act 1993.
