The USDA, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), Veterinary Services (VS), National centers for Animal Health (NCAH), Safety and Security Unity (SSU) in Ames, requires a contractor to travel to the NCAH facility in Ames, Iowa to pickup, transport, and properly dispose of BACTEC vials that contain low-level radioactive material in accordance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. This contract will contemplate two parts. First, it will contemplate initial process, label, transport, and proper disposal of approximately 42 drums of BACTEC Vials. In addition, this contract will have an IDIQ (indefinite delivery indefinite quantity) line item to meet removal requirements over a 5-year period. The contractor will need to process, label, transport, and removal of accumulating BACTEC Vials every 5-6 months for a period of 5 years. The contract will be for a one-year period with four option years. The USDA intends to award a combination contract with firm fixed-price line items for the initial disposal fee for existing BACTEC vials as well as IDIQ line items for the remainder of the contract duration. This will be a best value procurement. It is anticipated that the formal solicitation, Request for Quotes (RFQ) AG-6395-S-10-0112, will be released on or about June 21, 2010 and posted on this FEDBIZOPPS website. Please download the RFQ from this website. This requirement is 100% set aside for small business. NAICS code is 562112. The small business size standard is $12.5 million dollars, or less. A hard (printed) copy of the solicitation will not otherwise be available.
