BEG/UEF Concrete Construction

1. Description of the Work - General
The Subcontractor shall furnish labor, and equipment to construct the structures of the Emergency Generator Building (BEG) and the Diesel Fuel Oil Storage Vault (UEF) at the MOX Fuel Fabrication Facility at the Savanah River Site in Aiken, SC. These two structures contain approximately 3,500 cubic yards of heavily reinforced concrete. All permanent materials will be supplied by MOX Services.


The work scope includes, but is not limited to:


•Control of water, erosion and sediment control
•Construction of concrete building structures of the BEG and UEF
o Installation of reinforcing steel
o Installation of embedded plates
o Supply and installation of concrete formwork
o Placing and curing of concrete
•Other work necessary to support the building, equipment, and component installation as shown on the Subcontract drawings and described in the Subcontract specifications and Subcontract Terms and Conditions.


Work not included:


•Supply of materials
•Placing structural and common backfill
•Installation of embedded pipe and electrical grounding
•Equipment installation


The Subcontract will be a firm fixed price Subcontract.


The scope is predominately QL-1. The subcontract itself is QL-4 so the Subcontractor will not have to have an approved NQA-1 Program.


Firms submitting proposals must be able to demonstrate that they have recent experience performing in a nuclear environment and that they understand the difficulty and complexity of this type of work.
