Market sounding exercise
The University of Sheffield and Sheffield Robotics is looking to equip a showcase Field Robotics Facility. This facility will be for the development and testing of robotic and autonomous technologies for applications in outdoor, unstructured or unsafe environments including agriculture, civil nuclear, space, deep mining, oil and gas, search and rescue, infrastructure, construction.
In particular we will be looking for:
1) Measurement, sensing and monitoring of autonomous air and ground vehicles: examples include motion capture, monitoring position and location of mobile multi-robot platforms, 3-D LIDAR, differential GPS;
2) Imaging devices and set-ups: examples include digital cameras, high-speed cameras, thermal and infra-red cameras;
3) Condition monitoring (light, weather, etc);
4) Communications: RF and communications infrastructures, hyperspectral imaging;
5) Controlled environment setups (dust, smoke, radio maze, light, domestic setups);
In addition to the above, we are looking to source a fully-equipped mobile laboratory to transport relevant equipment (above — measurement, sensing, monitoring, imaging, condition monitoring, comms) to external test sites, and to process data in the field.
We will also be looking to source robotic platforms for Field Robotics applications, including those suited to working outdoors: Unmanned aerial vehicles, unmanned ground vehicles, robotic arms, tolls for telepresence and variably autonomous operation.
This is not a call for tenders or a pre-qualification exercise. It is a market sounding exercise to provide advance information of requirements and open a dialogue with the supply chain. We are seeking information that will help inform the strategy, design and specifications for a forthcoming tender(s) for the above facility.
Interested parties are invited to Express an Interest via the University"s e-tendering website, under project reference 206/YE/PIN.
