II.2)
Quantity or scope of the contract
II.2.1)
Total quantity or scope:
The system will serve 2 main functions:
1. By measuring the Fermi edge of a polycrystalline gold sample, this system will enable the I21 beam line to measure the energy and energy resolution (and therefore resolving power) of this soft X-ray beam line to an unprecedented accuracy.
2. In the long-term DLS also plans to use this system to perform spatially-resolved and angular-resolved photo-emission of superconductors, topological insulators, graphene, materials with strong electronic correlations, charge and spin density wave materials, etc. The novelty of the new facility will be the capability of performing soft X-ray photo-emission with extremely high-resolving power, which will facilitate new experiments currently not possible elsewhere.
The electron analyser system will be procured under a contract subject to this performance specification. The electron analyser system is defined as:
1. Hemispherical electron analyser;
2. Detection system;
3. Sample chamber;
4. Associated power supplies;
5. Control and data acquisition software and hardware (including control workstation);
6. Installation and functional test as well as final performance test at DLS;
7. Removable bake out system (optional);
8. Support structure for analyser and sample chamber (optional);
9. UV source (optional);
10. Sufficient spare parts with long delivery times to guarantee operation of the system with minimum downtime for a period of at least 2 years from the date of final acceptance (e.g. any specialised UHV flange gaskets or seals).
II.2.2)
Information about options
Options: yes
Description of these options: A list of options is provided below:
1. A removable bake out system, including temperature control and power supply, for the hemispherical analyser (including its detector) and the sample chamber may be included as an option and costed separately.
2. The support structure for the analyser and sample chamber, which should provide a means of moving the whole system by 3 mm vertically in a repeatable manner (see Section 3 of Technical Specification for more information), may be included as an option and costed separately.
3. A UV source may be included as an option and costed separately.
