ISIS is a world-leading centre for research in the physical and life sciences at the STFC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in the United Kingdom. The suite of neutron and muon instruments gives unique insights into the properties of materials on the atomic scale. The ISIS machine main magnet cooling circuit is cooled by 6 off air blast coolers located at high level between the R55 building and the synchrotron mound. These coolers are at the end of their service life and require replacement. The current coolers are dry air blast coolers, consequently during periods of high ambient temperature they struggle to maintain a temperature at which the ISIS machine can operate. To remedy this, the replacement coolers are to be adiabatic type coolers which can maintain a lower temperature during periods of high ambient temperature.
