The Euratrom Basic Safety Standards Directive (Directive 96/29/Euratrom) requires that certain tasks concerning radiation protection are undertaken by “qualified experts”. In Ireland, a qualified expert is referred to as a “Radiation Protection Adviser”, as defined by S.I. 125 of 2000.
