Short description:
The object of this procurement is an evaporation chamber with e-beam and thermal evaporation integrated in a glovebox.

Thin layer targets of U235 are essential for nuclear data experiments and are prepared in the target preparation laboratory by thermal evaporation of UF4 in a glovebox. This equipment originates from the seventies and needs to be replaced. Emerging techniques in thin layers deposition offer new possibilities and together with JRC-Karlsruhe the direct e-beam evaporation of U3O8 was demonstrated as deposition technique, thus avoiding the cumbersome conversion to UF4.
