Description of the procurement:
Im Rahmen des Exzellenzcluster PRISMA (Präzisionsphysik, fundamentale Wechselwirkungen und Struktur der Materie) errichtet das Institut für Kernphysik an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz einen mehrfach rezirkulierenden, energierückgewinnenden Linearbeschleuniger namens MESA (Mainzer Energierückgewinnende Supraleitende Beschleunigeranlage).

Dieser Dauerstrichbeschleuniger liefert einen kontinuierlichen Elektronenstrahl von 150 μA bis zu 10 mA Strahlstrom und einer Energie von bis zu 155 MeV für Experimente aus dem Bereich der Teilchenphysik. Der Hauptbeschleuniger besteht aus supraleitenden Beschleunigungsstrukturen und arbeitet entweder im energierückgewinnenden Modus oder als konventioneller rezirkulirender Linac. Die Beschleunigungsstrecken liefern hierzu einen Energiegewinn von 50 MeV pro Umlauf.

Der Vorbeschleuniger besteht aus normal leitenden Hochfrequenzstrukturen und liefert einen Elektronenstrahl von 150 μA bis 10 mA bei einer Energie von 5 MeV. In der ersten Ausbaustufe wird ein Strahlstrom von 1 mA bereitgestellt.

Der MESA Vorbeschleuniger ist als Linearbeschleuniger bestehend aus vier normalleitenden bi-periodischen achsengekoppelten Hochfrequenzmultizellresonatoren konstruiert. Die bi-periodische Struktur besteht aus zwei Sorten von Resonatorzellen: den Beschleunigungszellen (AC) und den Koppelzellen (CC). Bei der hier vorliegenden achsengekoppelten Struktur liegen AC und CC auf der Strahlachse, bei einer seitengekoppelten Struktur lägen die CC exzentrisch.
